I think percussion is important, and I love how the tom’s give a track a certain ethnic feel to them. This would be good in a house or disco dance floor filler. It’d work well in some acid techno or tech-house too, maybe some rock. I actually made this with a Juno 60. txfm740 sent me a set of his recordings, and i chopped some nuggets out, and increased the speed and tempo, and it sounded look a good tom, so I’m quite pleased with the results. All of the processing was completed in Audacity, including noise removal.

Kick Drum 008 by Good Time Tribe

I am really loving all of these great kick drum sounds. This one I’ve gone a little far with and you can hear the last remnants of the wind flapping the skin. I’ve got a little wahwah on it which is adding some thump to the snap and leaving a long decay. I did the fx in Audacity and used ErsDrums to create the sound canvas.

Who likes the kick drum? I like the kick drum. Yes, again with Angular Momentum’s Kick Lab XL. I used some bass boost in Audacity to pump it up a little.

This is a deep bass sound sample for audio production. Again I started with a freeware VSTi, I don’t remember which one but I’ll begin making more notes about those in the future. It’s got some kick with a little drip to it so it’d be good as your regular bassline tone. I lowered the overall amplitude and then boosted the bass using Audacity and I am pretty happy with the result.

Here’s another squelchy acid techno bass hit from the classic Roland TB-303. This cries for tweaking the cutoff and resonance and filtering it thru an LFO. Can anyone counter with a good 808 kick to knock it with?
