We are about to wrap up my current kick drum series. This current sample was created using a technique a friend taught me a long time ago. Layering samples, even those that sound tremendously similar, can have some impressive results. For this one, I actually used 3 separate VSTi synths (Digidrum Classic, ErsDrum, and Virtual [...]
This one was also taken from an older sample, and I re-worked it a little with the Audacity effects menu; you might be able to identify the source sample if you listen closely. It has a bit of an electrical buzzing sound to it.

Here’s another squelchy acid techno bass hit from the classic Roland TB-303. This cries for tweaking the cutoff and resonance and filtering it thru an LFO. Can anyone counter with a good 808 kick to knock it with?
