Here’s the 25th bass. I created this using Reason’s Maelstrom graintable synthesizer again. It is such a great diverse synthesizer that you can really come up with a very broad sound palette.

I love mad bass, so here is another excellent free bass synthesizer sample for your music studio. This one’s deep with some nice thickness, play it loud with some funky filtering and some distortion. You could probably layer this on top of a clave or rimshot with some reverb/chorus/delay applied and make an interesting kick drum. I may try that for one of the upcoming posts.

I did not make note of the settings on this one too much, but I can tell you the LFO rate was on high and I was messing with the VCF frequency. There we no post processing done.

Stab 003 by Good Time Tribe

I have been ripping it up creating these stabs using a 2oscillator VSTi in VSTHOST. Hip-hop is a lot of fun and forgiving of sounds, so again this stab works well here.

Kick Drum 009 by Good Time Tribe

We are about to wrap up my current kick drum series. This current sample was created using a technique a friend taught me a long time ago. Layering samples, even those that sound tremendously similar, can have some impressive results. For this one, I actually used 3 separate VSTi synths (Digidrum Classic, ErsDrum, and Virtual Kicklab XL. I also used the compressor in Audacity for the touch up.
